Bunk on Battleship New Jersey during pope’s Philadelphia visit

CAMDEN, NJ (WPVI) – Visitors looking for accommodation during Pope Francis’ trip to Philadelphia have an unusual option.

Battleship New Jersey is offering 400 berths for $ 75 per person for one night between September 22 and 26. These are the same bunks in which the sailors slept.

The price includes breakfast and dinner. Guests are also given a guided tour of the museum and a ride in a flight simulator.

But there are no showers.

The ship is moored in Camden, across the river from Philadelphia and less than a mile from the Ben Franklin Bridge. During the Pope’s visit, the bridge will be closed to traffic, but will be open to pedestrians and cyclists.

The battleship was launched on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
