Careless driving charge laid after crash in Kitchener

Waterloo Police have filed several charges following a collision in Kitchener early Friday morning.

The truck and dolly accident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Homer Watson Boulevard near Ottawa Street South.

Police claim that the truck traveling north hit the rear of the other truck that was unloading new vehicles. The truck then encountered a light standard, causing several light standards and live wires to fall to the ground.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 36-year-old man is now charged with negligent driving and failure to hand over his driver’s license.

Homer Watson also had to shut down so hydropower crews could fix the lights and cables.
