Conservatives nominate candidate for Kitchener Centre ahead of 2022 provincial election

Jim Schmidt will run for the Ontario PC Party at the Kitchener Center in next year’s provincial elections.

He was nominated by the party earlier this week.

Schmidt is a small business owner with nearly 20 years of experience as a supervisor with the Waterloo Region District School Board, the Waterloo Catholic School District School Board, and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.

“As a resident and small business owner, I hope to bring a new voice to Queen’s Park and advance our community’s priorities.” he said in a press release.

Schmidt lives in Kitchener with his partner and three children.

The election is planned for June 2nd, 2022.

Riding is currently represented by NDP MPP Laura Mae Lindo. The conservative candidate took second place in the 2018 elections.
