GoFundMe set up for man shot by police in Kitchener

GoFundMe aims to raise $ 50,000 for medical expenses, legal fees, and treatments for mental illness

A GoFundMe has been set up for a man who was shot dead in an incident in Kitchener by a Waterloo area police officer last week.

GoFundMe, titled “For Noah,” was founded by a friend of Noah’s mother’s “to come together and save Noah’s life” and raise funds to cover medical expenses, legal expenses, and psychological treatment.

The shooting last Wednesday in a square in the Strasburg and Ottawa Street area prompted the Special Investigation Unit to invoke its mandate.

The SIU said the police were responding to a report about a man in need.

The regional police said in a statement that a man reportedly hit a patrol car with a vehicle and then approached an officer with a gun.

At the time, the police announced that the officer had fired their gun.

The man who was shot suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The Record reports that he has been charged with assault on two counts.
