A Food Basics store in Kitchener rolls out its pandemic log after an employee tests positive for COVID-19.
METRO, owner of Food Basics, said they learned of the diagnosis on April 3.
The employee last worked on March 29 at the Ottawa Street and Lackner Boulevard location.
Since METRO learned of the diagnosis, it has reached out to public health to confirm the diagnosis but has chosen to start with the pandemic protocol as a precautionary measure.
According to a press release, this log states that the infected employee is in quarantine; immediate cleaning of all surfaces and equipment with which the employee may have come into contact; and organizing thorough and complete cleaning and disinfection of the store in accordance with public health recommendations.
Food Basics has also reached out to its staff to make them aware of the situation and checked with the infected worker to make sure they are fine and receiving appropriate treatment.
METRO says they will continue to communicate with public health to determine their next course of action.
