Kitchener high school placed under a ‘hold and secure’
A high school in Kitchener was placed on hold and secure when Waterloo Regional Police responded to a gun call on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 2 p.m., officials were called to the Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute (KCI) on King Street West after it was reported that a man had a gun.
Police say the staff moved the school under a cargo hold and secured it after the report.
At around 2:50 p.m., the police announced on Twitter that the lock had been lifted and secured.

When the officers arrived, they found the man on the school grounds but did not find a weapon.
According to the police, there were no injuries in the incident.
Currently at the Kitchener Collegiate Institute for on-site gun calls. The school was temporarily held up and secured.
The hold and secure has now been lifted and the investigation is ongoing. There is no danger to public safety.
