Kitchener man arrested by joint human trafficking team

The defendant faces charges of human trafficking, procurement and sexual assault

In September 2021, members of the Joint Waterloo-Guelph Human Trafficking Team launched an investigation into alleged human trafficking after the victim was referred to the team by a community member.

On October 3, 2021, as a result of the ongoing investigation, a 31-year-old Kitchener man was arrested and charged with:

  • human trafficking
  • Twice the material advantage for adults
  • procurement
  • Administer harmful thing
  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual Assault – Third Party Threats
  • Extreme threats

The man was being held on bail.

Comprehensive support services were provided to the victim by victim services.
