Kitchener man facing attempted murder, sexual assault in connection to incident in Cambridge

Waterloo Regional Police say a 32-year-old Kitchener man was charged with attempted murder and sexual assault in connection with an incident in Cambridge over the weekend.

Police said officers were called to a house on Linden Drive near Preston Parkway shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday about a woman in medical emergency.

Several injuries, including stab wounds, were found in a 37-year-old Cambridge woman, according to police.

Paramedics took the woman with serious injuries to a hospital outside the area

Police say a suspect fled the scene but was later arrested at a Kitchener home.

He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, serious sexual assault, making death threats, and overcoming resistance by asphyxiation.

The police say the victim and the accused know each other and there is no danger to public safety.

One person was arrested in connection with this incident.
