Man charged for concealing weapon on ION

Regional police said they learned from Grand River Transit Security Tuesday night that someone riding the ION train in Kitchener had a hidden gun

Several charges are brought against a 38-year-old man.

Regional police said they were alerted by Grand River Transit Security late Tuesday evening that a man was driving an ION train and was hiding a gun.

Police responded to the Charles Street and Cedar Street areas.

The firearm turned out to be a shotgun.

Police said the man would face charges, including six cases of non-compliance with a court order and one case of non-compliance with a probation order.

He is also charged with hiding a gun, carrying a prohibited weapon, and possessing stolen property under $ 5,000.
