Man faces attempt murder charge in relation to incident on Kitchener trail

Waterloo Regional Police have filed an attempted murder charge in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this month on a trail in Kitchener.

Police said officers were called to a path near Riverbend Drive at around 8:10 p.m. on September 8 after reports that a woman needed medical attention.

Rescue workers found a woman with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police claim the injuries were caused by assault and said the victim knew their attacker.

The suspect fled the area but was quickly tracked down by the police.

A 32-year-old Kitchener man was initially charged with a range of criminal offenses including assault with a gun, assault – strangulation and threats, but attempted murder charges were also brought on Monday.
