Philly Blog Sues Liebowitz Over ‘Frivolous’ Copyright Suit

Law360 (Aug 31, 2020, 3:24 p.m. EDT) – A Philadelphia architecture blog is suing contested copyright attorney Richard Liebowitz for filing a “frivolous” lawsuit against him, accusing him of litigating to reach a settlement “blackmail”.

In a complaint filed Thursday in Pennsylvania state court, Hidden City Philadelphia said Liebowitz’s lawsuit was part of a “pattern of activity” for which Liebowitz has repeatedly been sanctioned by judges across the country.

“The frivolous lawsuit … was initiated primarily for an improper reason. This is the defendant Liebowitz’s well-documented (and / or sanctioned) practice and pursuit of blackmailing settlements in litigation with copyright trolls,” the blog’s owners wrote .
