Regional officials provide update on COVID-19 in shelter system

The COVID-19 situation has improved in our local shelter system, according to regional officials.

Ryan Pettipiere is Director of Housing Services and provided an update during a Board of Health meeting on Wednesday.

“Numbers do seem to have plateaued currently. Current cases at each of our shelters do seem to have flatlined,” said Pettipiere.

He noted the region continues to utilize its isolation facility to house individuals who have tested positive, or are symptomatic.

Assistant Director of Housing Services, Kelly-Anne Salerno, echoed the messaging.

She said as of Wednesday, just one shelter was under outbreak; involving mostly resident cases.
