Rental van hits two buildings in Kitchener, police say

KITCHENER – The police filed charges against two men on Wednesday afternoon in Kitchener and Elmira after two incidents involving a rental car.

Officers were first called to the Weber Street East and Kinzie Avenue area of ​​Kitchener at around 4:05 p.m. to hear reports that a van had hit two nearby buildings. The vehicle had fled from the scene of the accident after the collision, the officials said.

The van was in Elmira. The driver escaped on foot and was arrested after a brief pursuit.

A 47-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving, escaping the police and driving when disqualified.

Through further investigation, police said they learned that another man was believed to have been driving the van when it hit the Kitchener buildings.

A 38-year-old man was charged with double charges of not staying, driving for disqualification, and violating court orders.
