Shots fired in Kitchener neighbourhood (update)

Local police are investigating multiple reports of gunfire fired in a Kitchener neighborhood on Monday.

According to police, officials reacted on site around 7:40 p.m. yesterday and found evidence that a firearm had been fired.

They note that they have also received reports that people were seen escaping the area prior to the local police arriving.

In a publication to 570 NEWS, the service said the police had received no reports of injuries during their initial investigation.

An increased police presence was seen in the neighborhood on Monday evening, as the police posted on Twitter to inform the public.

Members of the Forensic Identification Unit of the Waterloo Regional Police Service have also examined the crime scene for additional evidence.

The investigation by members of the service’s General Investigations Unit is ongoing.
