Ontario officials are reporting 179 new cases of COVID-19, as well as eight new deaths related to the virus, in the past 24 hours.
Health Secretary Christine Elliott says 32 of the most recent infections are in Waterloo, 27 in Gray Bruce and 23 in Toronto.
She says the province administered 207,507 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, a total of more than 16,800,000 since the vaccination campaign began.
The latest numbers come a day after Ontario announced that it will enter Phase 3 reopening several days ahead of schedule on July 16 due to high vaccination rates and low COVID-19 case numbers.
