Waterloo Region companies rub elbows with elite on Deloitte Tech Fast 50 rankings

Several Kitchener, Waterloo, and Guelph companies were honored on Wednesday when Deloitte released its annual Tech Fast 50 list for Canada and its annual Technology Fast 500 rankings for North America.

Among those that made it onto both lists were Kitchener’s Applyboard, Rapid Novor, and Roadmunk, and Waterloo’s Auvik Networks.

The Waterloo area tops the CBRE list of emerging tech talent spots in North America

The Fast 50 list measures Canada’s fastest growing tech companies with the highest revenue growth percentage in the past four years.

Applyboard, which operates in the education space, ranked seventh overall, as Deloitte says the company has seen 5,089 percent growth over the past four years.

Other local businesses on the list included Auvik Networks, which checked in at number 36, Rapid Novor at number 39, Kitchener’s Bonfire at number 41, and Roadmunk at number 45 on the charts.

The Fast 500 list looks at companies from across the continent that have applied and submitted research. The winners are based on the percentage growth for the fiscal year over a three-year period.

At # 41, Applyboard was also the highest ranked local company on the North American list, though it wasn’t alone.

Auvik Networks checked in at 293 while Rapid Novor checked in at 296. Others on the list were Roadmunk at # 434, Kitchener’s Tulip at # 476, and Avidbots at # 483, and Guelph’s Luminor Environmental Inc. at # 488.

Deloitte also honored 15 Canadian clean technology companies, with Luminor Environmental Inc. being the only local company on the list.

Waterloo’s Skywatch, which deals with commercial satellite imagery, was the only one on Deloitte’s Companies To Watch list, which sheds light on future tech stars.
