LONDON, Ontario. – Officials at a university in southwestern Ontario say they increased security on campus and in student dormitories following reports of sexual violence.

Western University in London, Ontario, did not provide details of the alleged incidents, but said it was “investigating reports from this weekend”.

A statement from Chris Alleyne, vice president of housing and fringe benefits, said the school does not tolerate sexual violence.

Alleyne says that during an investigation, those faced with complaints will be “sanctioned, which may include removal from campus.”

He says the school has not received any formal complaints from alleged victims.

A spokeswoman for the London Police Department said the officers had not been informed of the allegations and are currently not investigating.

Last week was orientation week at the university.
